The revamping of Shaikh Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khalifa Causeway, which covers 21-km-long section from Mina Salman to Dry Dock area, is going as per schedule with nearly 65 per cent of the project already completed, said a report.
The project, which is being implemented at an estimated cost of BD330,000 ($871,001) includes asphalt resurfacing and installation of traffic signals to help boost road safety in the area, reported Gulf Daily News, our sister publication.
The project is part of a series of prompt solutions planned to ease the traffic congestions in 13 locations, simultaneously with the implementation of mega road development projects, said a statement from the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning.
This comes in response to HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister's directives to develop urgent solutions to ease traffic flow across the kingdom, stated Minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning, Engineer Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf.
Meanwhile the ministry held a meeting to discuss major issues pertaining to King Fahad Causeway, including completing maintenance work to cope with the growing number of passengers coming from and to Saudi Arabia and provide the needed services to them.
Several innovative ideas were put forward by the ministry officials to help improve movement on both sides of the causeway and provide the needed facilities for passengers.-TradeArabia News Service
