Vida Beach Resort Marassi Al Bahrain - a major property from Emaar in the kingdom featuring a total of 157 rooms and 141 serviced residences - has been selected as the National Winner for Mena in the Hotel Project of the Year category at this year’s 2022 MEED Projects Awards.

Each of the National Winners were selected, following an extensive submission and judging process, on the basis of a number of factors such as technological innovation, engineering excellence and commitment to sustainable practices.

A spokesperson from Emaar Hospitality Group said: "We are thrilled that Vida Beach Resort Marassi Al Bahrain has been recognized as Hotel Project of the Year at Meed Project Awards. This follows an incredible launch that established the first Vida Resort outside of the UAE and Emaar’s first hotel in Bahrain."

"This exciting project brings an entirely new hospitality concept to the kingdom. This stunning beach resort draws inspiration from art, design, entrepreneurship, and fashion," he stated.

"It is a thriving lifestyle destination and metropolitan space that boasts beautifully appointed, contemporary rooms and vibrant dining outlets, all enjoyed in an unparalleled, beach front setting," he added.

Sonia Kerrigan, Group Commercial Director at Meed, said: "This year is the largest ever for the Meed project Awards, with a record number of entries and categories underlining just how resilient the projects market community has been in the face of all the challenges over the last two years."

"The high volume of world-class projects built on time and to budget are further evidence of the region’s dynamism and reputation as a leading centre of construction innovation and excellence," she stated.

Kerrigan pointerd out that the National Winners are a testament to the infrastructure community’s resilience, commitment to excellence and innovation. "We are proud and delighted to announce more than 100 projects have claimed national honours across 18 categories and representing countries from across the Mena region," she added.

Despite the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, cost inflation and increased logistics costs, the high volume of quality projects that were completed over the last 12 months are a strong indication of the region’s continued progression, stated Kerrigan.

"These companies have re-affirmed why they are considered the bedrock of the region’s economy. Congratulations to all our national winners," she added.

These finalists will now go through a further round of rigorous judging where an independent panel of more than 40 judges will gather to review them and select the overall Mena winners in each category to be announced at the awards ceremony.

The event will culminate in the award of the prestigious Project of the Year, which in past years has included iconic projects such the Louvre Museum, the Haramain high-speed railway, and Bahr Al Barq wastewater treatment plant in Egypt.-TradeArabia News Service
