GFH Group names Samahiji as new UK chief

Bahrain-based GFH Group, a leading regional financial group with major interests in asset management and real estate, has appointed Tariq Al Samahiji as the chief executive officer for its UK operations effective immediately.  
 
An industry veteran, Al Samahiji brings to the role more than two decades of experience in the global banking sector across asset management, capital markets, Islamic finance and credit, said a statement from GFH.
 
In his new role, will be responsible for driving further expansion of GFH’s international presence. 
 
GFH currently has assets of over $12 billion globally and looks to build its international portfolio through organic and inorganic growth. 
 
The group’s London operation will play a strategic role in further strengthening GFH’s pipeline of opportunities and partnerships while effectively managing and growing its blue-chip investments across key sectors that include real estate, logistics and warehousing, healthcare, technology and education, among others.  
 
Most recently, he co-founded Orpheus Partners, the fast-growing GP capital advisory partnership of which he remains non-executive chairman. 
 
Prior to that, he was the CEO of BNP Paribas Najmah and Global Head of BNP Paribas Islamic Finance and Investments, said the statement.
 
GFH is one of the most recognised financial groups in the Gulf region. Its businesses include asset and wealth management, commercial banking and real estate development. The group’s operations are focused in the GCC, North Africa and India. 
 
It got registered in the UK as a representative office of its Bahrain headquarters in April 2019 and went on in December 2020 to acquire a majority stake in Roebuck Asset Management, a leading real estate asset manager focused on the UK and European logistics and business space, thus bolstering its presence in these key markets and underscoring the group’s ongoing efforts and success in effective diversification across asset classes and geographies, it added.-TradeArabia News Service
